Even a zombie can do it
We did all our test lighting between takes so that the flash didn’t disrupt filming. Then shot the talent in under half an hour during lunch break. It was a bit of a race.
Shooting this way, rather than where they were filming, was a great advantage both for the TV crew and later for our post production.
The resulting shots were to be deep etched for use on the help section of Foxtel's website. The sombre flat lighting of the 80's brown kitchen they were filming in was not really suitable for stills. And that frayed suit would have been a nightmare to separate from the background.
I wouldn't normally advocate for a temporary studio set up and just half an hour to shoot in. But in this case, with the cost of zombie makeup alone, a second day was never going to happen.
It was a good solution all round.
