Renovation roulette. Don't take a chance.

    Asbestos Awareness campaign

This awareness TVC warned that DIY renovators mishandling asbestos were taking a deadly risk with both their own and their family's lives. Don't play renovation roulette, it warned.

A young family sitting around a table with a power drill in the centre was the key image. Dad is going to spin the drill like spin-the-bottle.

The whole mood and tone of the ad was dark, forboding, and woefully under lit for stills.

So I was given 30 minutes to get in, light the shot, set up and shoot. I made sure I shot the pendant light first, then replaced that with my own flash reflector on a boom. The bounce off the table did most of the work, lighting the family, while a dim soft box behind the camera threw a tiny bit of ambient light on the background.

We were shooting on lunch break, so the little boy kept turning around wanting to know if he could go yet. He wasn't going to hold on too long.
