VB. For a hard earned thirst.

Meet the 'Healer of the two wheeler' and the 'Pythagorus of pine'.

This new campaign from The Monkeys Melbourne, takes a fresh look at how you get that infamous ‘hard earned thirst’. The one that can only be quenched by an ice cold Vic Bitter.

The TVC's feature two blokes, each with a difficult job to do. Each task challenging both physically and mentally. One has to 'operate' on his dirt bike by the side of the road in searing heat. The other has to precision fell a large tree in a narrow gap between two buildings - the heat adding to his thirst of course.

I was there to shoot BTS for social and digital work. I shot a lot over the three days on location. Most of the time hunkered down in some awkward and uncomfortable spot, way too close to the DP. Or in the case of the bike shot, laid down on burning hot gravel with the lens one inch off the ground, because the low angle made the landscape vast and flat, while the bike was above the horizon, clear of clutter.

The tree felling shot - which was real, so no second takes - was shot on a tripod while I hid, out of view from the multiple cameras filming, behind a shed with a bluetooth remote.

Client and agency were very happy with the shots. So much so, they picked two to run large format OOH. And another two consumption shots to run further down the track.

The weather on this TVC shoot could not have been better suited to the product. Three days of parched, dry, dusty, 30º plus temps. I know I certainly felt like a VB afterwards.

    Cheers.
